Hi Randy,
Yes, its really not good that we cannot import MiB tables into OpsMgr.
Customers very often cannot believe that this is missing.
So, I am working on this sollution. I use very often MiB Browser (you can
use whatever product for SNMP) to receive SNMP traps. In this product I can
import MiB tables and translate traps.
Then I have SMTP server on my MS. Trap receiver sends emails to this server
(drop folder). I have prepared the script, read this folder and create
events on OpsMgr. Then I will create Alert Generating Rule to create alerts
in OpsMgr. There will be relevant information from email/trap.
So I can work with any SNMP devices or any product which is able to send
emails:-)

Post by RandyWhich is something I don't get. Why would a company implement SNMP and not
include the most basic of features.... like, WALK and compiling MIBs and
Counter64 support?
It almost seems like SNMP was an after thought or not really wanted.
Post by Anders Bengtsson [MVP]Hi jb,
You dont use MIB files in Ops Mgr as we did in MOM 2005. For more info about
SNMP monitoring, take a look at
